AL BAHR ISLANDERS SHRINE CLUB
Chartered 1982
Home Page

The Islanders Shrine Club was instituted in 1982 with 24 Charter Members, under the presidency of Chico Alvarez and Illustrious Potentate Dave Davidson.  During the years 1983 and 1984, membership increased to 43 members.  A new Club uniform was worn and the Club started participating in parades and other Shrine activities.  In 1985, the Islanders, under the leadership of President Reggie Regalado, purchased a "Jeepney" (Filipino Taxi) to be used in parades and other Temple functions.  Membership grew in 1986, when Vic Handugan was unanimously elected to preside over the Club.  Throughout the years, the Club has added new members, been represented in Temple functions and provided assistance to other CLubs and Units.   We were the first Club ever to serve dinner (Filipino cuisine) to over 600 Nobles at a Shrine Stated Meeting in the Temple.
Membership is comprised primarily of Nobles of Filipino descent, but is opened to all Shrine Nobles.  The club membership is enriched wih Past Potentates, Divan Members, Past Masters, Ambassadors and Aides.  With the unique Filipino Jeepney, always a hit at parades, the club continues to support the activities of Al Bahr Shrine and the Family of Freemasonry in San Diego.
